Hi guys! Today I'm going to talk about how makeup varies in different countries around the world. I'm not talking about the difference in manufacturing I'm talking about the way makeup is applied as there are different beauty standards all over the world.
In the U.S.A a common cosmetic trend is 'instagram makeup'
This look features intensely filled eyebrows, a dramatic eyeshadow
look,winged eyeliner, perfect skin with contour and highlight and
finally a matte liquid lipstick for the lips. An example is shown below:
Japan: In Japan a popular makeup trend is the doll face. This is done by using a pale foundation to give the effect of porcelain doll like skin. The eyes are made look huge by exaggerated eyeshadow and false eyelashes. They also put a white colour in the waterline of their eye to make their actual eye look big. They apply lots of blush to contrast the porcelain skin and they make their lips look small by using an 'ombre effect,' that is when the colour fades out.
Thailand: In Thailand they also use a light foundation to get pale skin because pale skin is desired in the east. They tend to go for a vivid bright colour on the lips and their eyebrows are very straight and full only with a little arch.
Ireland: In Ireland the beauty trends are completely different from the east as it is a popular beauty trend to use fake tan because a lot of Irish people are naturally very fair.
France: In France strobing is a popular makeup trend. This is were you contour the parts of your face that don't hit the light using a dark powder. Then you highlight the parts that do hit the light with a shimmery light base. This creates the illusion of a stronger and sharper face structure .
Britain: The trend here is big bold eyebrows. People will fill in their eyebrows a few shades darker then their hair. They will also draw in sparse bits to give the eyebrow more structure.
Sweden: Here the trend is more neutral makeup. However people tend to wear lipsticks that are beige and have a grey undertone.
