Hey guys today I'm going to talk about the ingredients and resources found in a lot of cosmetics we use today.
Foundation: The base of foundation usually contains oil/wax, water and talc which makes the foundation glide onto the skin. Then there are pigments added to the foundation to give it a certain amount of coverage. The pigments may include iron oxides and titanium dioxide that comes in many different colours like red, black and yellow. The iron oxide pigments are quite cheap to purchase and the pigment mimics different skin tones.
Eyeshadow: Eyeshadow is generally made form either talc or mica. Mica is a glittery mineral that is gotten cheaply in India and China as they have high mica deposits. The mica pigments give the eyeshadow colour. They then add a preservative so the eyeshadow doesn't go hard the preservative is usually glycol it also prevents bacteria from growing on the eyeshadow. Waxes and oils can also be added if the manufacturer wants the eyeshadow to stick to the skin better.
Lipstick: Wax again is a major ingredient in lipstick and it is the main reason lipstick has it's creamy texture. Oil (vegetable oil, mineral oils) can be up to 60% or more of a lipsticks content. Alcohol, pigment and a fragrance is sometimes added to the lipstick.
